The German School of the Sisters of Borromeo, a renowned educational institution with a 140-year history, is finally planning the construction of a new school on the eastern outskirts of Alexandria. As one of the largest education institutions worldwide funded by Germany, this project marks a milestone in its development.
The acquired plot conveniently extends along the main thoroughfare Ring Road and borders a newly developed street. With an area of approximately 25,000 square meters, it provides ample space for the planned new complex.
The challenges of the construction site are significant. Due to the poor quality of the subsoil, nearly 1000 piles, each over 22 meters long, had to be sunk beneath the buildings to ensure a stable foundation.
The new complex will consist of four main buildings carefully designed to meet high educational standards. In addition to the main buildings, ancillary structures such as utility rooms and a wastewater treatment plant are planned.
Worschech Architects have designed the new construction, taking into account many sustainability aspects. Particularly noteworthy is the wastewater treatment plant, which helps treat wastewater for garden irrigation, especially since the area lacks sewage and wastewater disposal infrastructure.
The outdoor facilities will also be carefully designed, with new walls, parking lots, and sports facilities. This new facility will not only be a place of learning but also foster a vibrant community.
Through this new construction, the German School of the Sisters of Borromeo will solidify its position as a premier educational institution while also honoring its history and tradition.
