Air Force Museum, Cairo

The challenge was the projects geometry, the installation sequence, the point load distribution and the complex planning of the project. The open-air exhibited air crafts are hanging down from two semi-circular shaped framework ceilings. The semi-circular geometry requires a multitude of different frameworks elements with different sizes. This necessitates an accurate prearrangement, a complex production and installation.
The clients request to be able to hang an aircraft at any random point of the ceiling caused very high point loads. These loads and the enormous wind suction led to a calculated load of 60t for each support. These over-sized bearings have to take the axial loads going down as well as the suctions force going up. Unfortunately a visit to the museum is only for permitted for high-ranking officers.
